Car seat cover + more giveaway *CLOSED*

I haven’t done a review/giveaway for FluffyRumps is too long but I am here with another one!

Most of us, if not all of us, use a blanket to cover our babies when it’s cold outside when they are in their car seats. It is so annoying to me that I can’t keep it tucked under Lily without it moving, falling off, or her pulling it out from underneath herself. I wouldn’t have to check so much to make sure the blanket was still in place and/or fix it when it did!

Thank goodness I don’t have to do any of that anymore! Rhonda as come up with a great idea! I was so excited for it to get cold so I could use this with Lily! I have to admit though, for whatever reason, I had trouble figuring out how it went on. I couldn’t picture it. I felt silly when I looked at the pictures Rhonda has posted on her FB page of these covers. It was definitely a slap-the-forehead kinda moment!

I love the fabric that she uses…..so soft! She has many different in stock covers that y’all can choose from!
I use this cover on Lily every time we go out & it’s cold…even chilly. It beats having to worry about a blanket & keeping it on!

I also found out that it makes for a great cart cover also. Stores are usually cold no matter the time of year anyway, so using this car seat cover as a cart cover in the summer will work out great! I have never used a cart cover before but it just looks bulky. This isn’t! You can just take your baby from the carseat to the cart and not have to take anything off or add anything.

Homemade baby puffs

Again, I am sorry to the original poster, I cannot remember where I got this recipe from.

The recipe says to use a Play Dough confetti maker. I know that not everyone has one, I don’t, & ended up using a medicine syringe. This was not the easiest way to make little puffs. I will have to figure out what to use next time. If you have any suggestions, please pass them along to me! Was definitely messy!

2 Tablespoons Oil
2 Egg Yolks
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 1/2 Cup Baby Cereal
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
Water (I used 2/4 cup)

Mix all ingredients. add enough water to make it come together. add more
cereal if you added too much water. Load the dough into the Play Dough
Confetti maker and crank away. you don’t need to worry about separating
them all completely, after they bake, they separate easily just by shaking
the pan. Bake at 325 for about 7-10 minutes. let cool for 5 minutes or so
before putting them in an air tight container. Store in the fridge.

Lily loves these things! They do melt in your mouth. The one thing that I do is tear pieces off for her. These are just too big to give to her right now.I have tasted them & so do the rest of my kiddos. They taste good & are a great snack for anyone in the house. I am wanting to add mashed bananas in the next mix next time. I am sure that you can add anything to this mix!

Let me know all the different ways you have made em & what you’ve added to them! Enjoy 🙂

And the scale said….

I was finally able to weigh myself last night thanks to my friend! I must be honest (as I always am) and say that I was pleasantly surprised by the red number that showed up! Before I tell you what that red number was, let me recap you on what the last numbers were.

Right before we moved to TX from NC I was 250ish, I don’t remember the exact number but give or take about 5 pounds. This was the summer of 2011.
When I was pregnant with my daughter Lily I lost a ton of weight. I think I was 213 the day that I had her. This was June 2012.
It is now January 2013 and I weigh 228…even!

Not bad! I could have sworn it was going to be more than that! I am honestly very shocked it wasn’t considering the way I was eating before all this change happened. Thankful but still shocked! I am not sure what I want my goal weight to be, haven’t really thought about that. All I know is that I would love a 1 as my starting weight number. That would just make me cry I am sure!

I also wanted to say that today wasn’t a good food day for me. I suddenly became stressed and overwhelmed that I started just eating cookie dough like it was going out of style. I started to beat myself up about it but thought, what good is that going to do? Probably just force myself into eating more crap! So I stopped and said, no worries, I can start fresh tomorrow and just remember that morning bring new beginnings.

Also, I was texting with my best friend today & talking about how we were both done making excuses about exercising. And then she saw a quote on Pinterest tonight and sent it to me. I wanted to share with yall because what it says couldn’t be anymore truer. Thanks LQ for sending it to me! Think I am going to print it off and tape it to my wall so it’s a daily reminder!

If you are on myfitnesspal.com, then please add me! I would love to go on this journey with you & to support each other!

Mommie update!

And now for an update on me, the Mommie!

I have been doing well! I have not experienced any postpartum depression this time, thank God! I don’t know if I have been too busy to notice it or what, haha! Just glad that I haven’t had to deal with that. Still breastfeeding and sorta co-sleeping.

I have started a journey to loose the baby weight. I am not dieting or cutting foods out in anyway, just watching how much I am eating. The only thing that I have reduced is the sweets. I haven’t been eating as much of those as I have been before.

But other than that, I am not sure what else to report about what’s been going on with me in the last 7ish months! I think that I won’t update again on me until Lily is 1 year old!

Lily update!

I know it has been like 2 months since I updated on her….I am not very good at this, haha!

Lily is a little over 7 months old now! I cannot believe that she is getting so big so fast! I don’t think that I have noticed time going by so quickly before. I mean it seems that as the older I get the years go by faster, but it just seems different this time. Maybe it’s because we are doing more things than we have ever done before. I don’t know, but I do know all you parents out there know what I am talking about!

Anyway, onto the baby!

Like I said Lily is 7 months old. She is crawling all over the place! Having to tell the older kiddos to make sure their things are off the floor is a daily (multiple times a day) task. She is pulling herself up on everything! She is gnawing on everything in sight! She has been doing that for a few months now but no teeth have popped through…yet! She is taking an interest in food. I have been giving her sweet potatoes (homemade not jarred) but she is having a hard time with those. I don’t want to give her too much too soon. I give her the smallest bite and she always seems to gag on it. I just think that it’s so different that she is having a hard time. I will keep giving it to her though and hopefully can get some ‘real’ food in her! I was told by her ped that it’s no biggie right now if she doesn’t eat it. She is still nursing which I am SUPER happy about! She is however sleeping in her own bed but it’s right next to my side of the bed. Well, for the most part she is sleeping in her own bed. Sometime during the night (I am not sure when) she must wake up and I put her in bed with me to nurse her & then I wake up in the morning and she’s next to me. Which I am not complaining about, I absolutely love it! I am still wearing her too! I love that! I so wish that I would have been doing this with my 4 other kiddos!!! She is smiling, giggling, and talking up a storm! I am loving the interaction that she is getting into!

Let me see how much I can remember from her 6 month appointment 😉
All of her measurements are average. I am happy about that & glad that my body is doing what it should be! She had her shots and didn’t have any problems with that. He said that I can start her on baby food but not to worry if she doesn’t take off with it, which she hasn’t. He said that she should be an excellent sitter upper by 9 months but he didn’t think she would wait that long….and she didn’t. We talked about some other things but I don’t remember, ha! She will be going back for her 9 month appointment in March.

We also went to the dentist this same day as her dr appointment. I wasn’t sure how she would do, but she did awesome! They don’t really do much at this age (from what I have seen) but he said that she looks good! I did bring up one concern that I had with something that I had been feeling in her mouth. Keep in mind that she has no teeth right now. She has had this bump behind her bottom gums for months. I had no idea what it was, how it got there, or why it was there. The dentist felt it and said that it was a tooth bud. I have never heard of that before or had any other of my kiddos have this. He said that it would move it’s way forward and then her teeth would come in. Still nothing and the bump is still there. She goes back in March and we will see if it’s still there.

I am hoping that I covered everything that has been going on. If not, I will add it to her 8 month update! Now I am hoping that I can remember to make the update, haha!

I have an idea for her monthly pictures, so I will try to get that posted this weekend!

See ya next month 🙂

Happy 3, 4, & 5 Months!

I am so behind on updating on Lily! This post won’t have any pictures just because I can’t get her 5 month picture off my phone yet, so I will just make a separate post with her pictures.

She is getting so big way too fast! I so wish that we could slow down time!

She is rolling back to belly & belly to back. Still nursing like a champ. Still baby wearing. Still co-sleeping. Still cloth diapering. She rubs her eyes when she is tired and I think it’s the cutest thing ever! Over the last week or so she has started teething and she is definitely letting you know! We have given her some Tylenol. I froze my teething bling necklace but she didn’t like that at all! But I will keep trying that with her incase she starts to like it later down the road.

This past Thursday (11/08/12) it really hit her. She slept all day long except to nurse. She was only awake & interacting with us for about 90 minutes total that day. I let her sleep and didn’t mess with what her body was telling her that she needed. The next day she was almost back to normal & today she is even better!
I don’t feel any teeth poking through but she does have a bump behind her gums and I can tell that it’s moving forward. You can now feel that bump through her chin. She is drooling and putting everything in your mouth and biting down on everything!
Lily teething isn’t that bad but compared to the other 4 kiddos, she is the worst\hardest. She is so uncomfortable and miserable. Hopefully the teeth\tooth will pop through soon and stop bothering her.

She is wanting to sit up on her own all the time. She has done it a few times but always falls over in the end, haha! We are thinking about getting her a bumbo for Christmas. She reaches for people now when she sees them……makes my heart smile when she reaches for me and her Papa! She talks all the time! I have no idea what she is saying but it’s so cute! She moves around in her walker all the time! Which is a good thing because you can tell she wants to get down and get somewhere but just doesn’t know how! She isn’t a complete fan of tummy time but she is doing it more often. She turns while on her belly but hasn’t started scooting anywhere or crawling.

We have not started her on any foods and aren’t planning to just yet. When we do, I will be trying to do homemade food. I have never made my own baby food so I have no idea how time consuming this is or anything like that. But I would like to at least try and make the effort.

She has her first dentist appointment next month & her 6 month check up also. I will definitely update after those two appointments. And I think they are on the same day!

Anyway, that’s it for now & I will get a post up with her 3, 4, & 5 month pictures as soon as I can get them off my phone. Thanks for reading 🙂

Day 19 – 08/26/12

Hey kiddos,
We went to church today like usual. Had breakfast there….its so nice & great that our church has this, makes our Sunday mornings more enjoyable!
Came home and you kiddos had to clean your rooms, bummer! Then we had to get all your school supplies, label them, and get everything in your book bags. We also are starting something new where you get your clothes ready the night before…seems to be working well. The excitment of school being the next day was growing!
Lily is starting to find her arm….just one! She raises her left arm in the air, stares at it, and touches it with her right hand. Its too funny to watch her. She is talking a lot more too! Love her big smiles!

Until tomorrow,
Mommie 🙂
Love you 5!

2 Months PP

This is really overdue!!!! It took me awhile to get updated pictures of the two of us, they were taken this month but not exactly on the 7th.

She is growing like a weed! She is already in 3-6 month clothing…makes me sad when I had to change out her clothing. She is already wanting to sit up. When she is laying down she is trying to push herself up to try and sit up. This is all happening way too fast! I have told her many times to slow down but she just isn’t listening! Makes me so sad 😦 She is talking up a storm these days. She has started talking when she nurses also which takes twice as long now but it’s ok because she is so gosh darn cute when she does it. I was going to wait until her 2 month check up to do her update but I will just make a separate post about that……it’s next week! She loves her chair that her Nana bought her! She even falls asleep in it sometimes. She is just recently taking cat naps during the day. Which is fine, but it makes it hard to get anything done….but that is my fault because I just want to play with her! She is still breastfeeding (I cannot believe it) and sleeping mostly through the night. She wakes up between 2-3 times a night….all depends on when her & I go to bed. I don’t count her feedings until I go to sleep & have to wake up. She has recently been getting really fussy when she nurses (I hold her football style). So I was trying to figure out what was going on and how can I help her out? Thought it was gas but that wasn’t it. So now that sorta lay on my back and she nurses on top of me. She loves it and lately will nurse like that more than any other position. I get the bigger smiles from her when she is like that.We are still doing tummy time & she is doing great and staying on her belly longer but she still isn’t the biggest fan. But we will keep doing it!

Lily at 2 months!
I think that is all I have to update on her right now. Like I said, I will update after her appointment next week!

I am doing just great. Had my 6 week follow up appt about 2 weeks ago! I gained about 5 pounds since last month & I got (and still am) bummed about that. On the other hand it’s not like I was doing anything to change that. I did start walking about 1 week before my appt. I haven’t been walking since my appt & I kick myself everyday that I don’t but apparently it’s not enough to make myself do it. I am going to be documenting my weight loss journey as soon as I can remember to take my measurements. I am going to loose this baby weight (from all 5 babies!) if it kills me…and it just might. So stay tuned to find out the rest of that story 🙂

Until next month

My breastfeeding story

This is the first time that I get to participate during this week and I am so excited about it!I have 5 kiddos and have only been able to breastfeed 1 successfully! I couldn’t tell you why it didn’t work out with the other ones because I don’t even know. In the end, it doesn’t really matter because they are all happy and healthy!

I can always breastfeed while at the hospital but, for whatever reason, once I get home something happens and it doesn’t work out. This time I was determined to make breastfeeding work! And make it work I did 🙂

I had to push through some pain and questions, but gosh darnit, we are at almost 8 weeks of exclusively breastfeeding and going strong! I am hoping for at least 12 months but I will make monthly updates on my pregnancy blog if anyone is interested in following that.

I hope that if you want to breastfeed that you don’t have any formula in the house to fall back on, seek out support, and push through the pain. I think that was the hardest part for me. If you need help or have questions, please call your local WIC office! They have been a huge help to me! Please don’t be afraid to ask questions either! I hope that you share your story with others so they know that they can also breastfeed their child!

1 month PP

I cannot believe that our Lily is already a month old!
Well technically as I am typing this up she is already 5 weeks and some days, but who’s counting 😉

She is growing like crazy! On the 25th of June she weighed 8lbs 1 oz. When we went to our WIC appointment she weighed 9lbs 6oz!!!! I would say that she is doing great! I wasn’t expecting that much of a weight gain! She is still waking up between 2-3 times a night. She is sleeping more during the day (growth spurt!? I know her 6 week growth spurt is coming up). Not neccissarly longer naps but just more naps throughout the day. Her head control is getting much better! Her facial expressions are too funny! We love to watch her make all those faces 🙂
We can get her to smile more often. Trying to capture a picture of those smiles….well that’s another thing! I always seems to get the very end. Apparently I need to work on my skills 😉
Her siblings are all willing to help out. Most of the time they are coming to me wanting to hold her, carry her, change her diaper, change her clothes….anything! I was surprised about that! I am very thankful that they all love thei sister so much and are wanting to help her (and me!) out so much!
I did notice the other day that her newborn clothes seemed alittle small on her now. NO!!!!!! That can’t be happening already, can it!? She needs to slow her roll alittle bit!
I was rocking her to sleep last night and it’s the first time that I noticed she seemed bigger and heavier. She is getting rolls and everything. Ahhh, our little lady is growing so fast!
I am going to take a picture every month now (on the 7th) of her. I cannot wait to see all the changes that we will be able to see when she is 1 year old! I will post that once I get it on the computer.

I am doing just fine. I had to reschedule my 6 week appointment that was supposed to happen on Thursday. And the soonest they could get me in in 08/15! My dr is popular apparently! It’s fine though…I have no concerns or questions about anything that is going on. If something comes up between now and then I will just call the office.
This time last year I was around 250lbs. The day I gave birth to Lily I was 232-ish. On 07/09/12 I was 208! I have never been this small. I am super excited to start working out & getting in shape. This is a huge jump start to my goal of having a 1 as the first number of my weight…not a 2. I don’t have a plan on what to do for a workout but I know that I will start slow. I belong to a great group on FB of Mommies that are wanting to loose weight and be a support to each other!

I will no longer be doing weekly updates….from now on it will be monthly. Thank you for reading 🙂
See ya around the 7th!
