Wraptasitic!

A friend of mine sent me a Moby Wrap after she heard that I was wanting one but didn’t know if I wanted to spend the money on it & was asking for opinions about it.
I was super surprised to get it in the mail!! And very thankful!

I was also super annoyed with this very long piece of fabric! How can something so simple give me such a headache!? I couldn’t get it right and I was making myself sweat from trying and getting mad. I finally said screw it! I was just going to have to not get anything done and wait for Mister to get home so he could help me.

I know that I am wearing the wrap wrong in every single picture, so please do NOT email me or comment telling me that I am. This was my first try and I got it but I didn’t.

This is me (and Lily) after I finally figured out how to wear it correctly! It took a few days but I finally got it!

I absolutely love this piece of fabric! If you are thinking about getting one go ahead and do it! I use my wrap almost every single day!

Homemade Part 2

Back in December I made a post about making homemade dish, laundry, and hand soap. Over the last two weeks have had to make a second batch of laundry & hand soap…still have plenty of the dish soap. So I thought I would give an update on how they worked, if I recommend them, and if there would be anything that I would change about them.

Dish soap:
I have found nothing wrong with the powder dishwasher soap that I made. I made it at least 6 months ago and haven’t had to make another batch yet. We can have a full load of dishes to do up to 3 times a day. We are only using a tablespoon at a time and doesn’t need more than that. It has no smell to it and works wonderfully! I have mine stored in a small trash can that has a lid & keep it in the kitchen under our bar.

Laundry soap:
The first batch that was made my mother-in-law wanted to replace using a bar of soap with soap nuts. Now since I had never made this before I went along with it. It cleaned the clothes and everything just fine….no issues there. My issue was that it was very runny…it’s supposed to thicken up like soap. This time around I did it the way that the directions said & hopefully it will look right in the morning. It says to have it sit overnight to thicken. I used a scented bar of soap in hopes that the smell would make the clothes smell good. I will let you know how that goes….errrr…smells once I use it.

Hand soap:
The first batch I made was very thick! I mean it literally looked like snot in a container. And instead of getting soapy (like store bought soaps do) it seemed to just absorb into the skin before you could get it all over your hands. Again, I used a different bar of soap this time thinking that the issue was the brand of soap that I used. After the second batch cooled and sat overnight….it did the same thing. So I am thinking that I need to use less glycerine next time around. I am going to use about half of what the recipe says and see if that doesn’t make any sort of difference.

Here are a few pictures of the 2nd batches of hand & laundry soap that I have made.

All links to the recipes can be found here on my first post about these recipes. None of these recipes are mine!

My favorite WAHMs

Let me say something first….
These are work at home moms that I have bought from & have used their product. There are many MANY more WAHMs out there that make wonderful products as well…..these are ones that I personally trust and would definitely buy from again!

Since being introduced to WAHMs (about 1 1\2 years ago) I have always wanted to support them more than the big name businesses. I still have my loves that are big businesses but there is something about having a product made for you by hands….not a machine! And from my experience, when I have had questions about what I bought (usually how to wash the product) I am talking to the person that knows best…not a representative of the person who made it.
Ok, now that I have rambled on…it’s time to spot light my favorites!!!
(*In no particular order I must say*)

Bouncing Woolies:
I have been using my Bouncing Woolies dryer ball for over a year now & love it! I have even bought the rescenting kits to try other scents out….though I am not sure I did those right, haha! Anyway, I love the fact that I don’t have to go out and keep buying dryer sheets & plus everything seems to dry faster and fluffier! I have not had one problem with the material of the ball coming apart or tearing…nothing! I would highly recommend Bouncing Woolies if you are looking for a dryer ball!
Facebook Fan Page

Crazy Leggies:
You can get more than one item at this WAHM’s shop! I have a pair of baby shoes & a few pairs of baby legs. Coming soon to my mailbox are going to be two friendship bracelets as well! I happen to know this WAHM on a personal level and know all the hard work that she puts in. She absolutely loves what she does & makes a great, very well made product. I have to be honest and say that I was nervous washing the shoes for the first time….thinking that maybe stitching would come apart or something along those lines. Nothing happened to the shoes! They came out just like they went in….perfect! I cannot wait to put these WAHM product on Baby L once he\she gets here! If you are looking for baby shoes, baby legs, and other homemade baby products then I would highly suggest Crazy Leggies!

Daffe Designs:
Now I have had a wet bag from Daffe Designs for right around 2 years now. I have stuffed that thing full & am still amazed at the amount of diapers + clothes that this little bag will hold! Click here to read my review of the wet bag when I first received it. I love this bag and will use it until it’s falling apart! I received another product from Daffe Designs not too long ago also. It’s a plain oneie with a “Hello my name is” label on it…..this is how we will be introducing Baby L to everyone! I love love love this oneie! Again with being nervous to wash it and afraid the label would fall off….nothing happened! Love the oneie and, once again, cannot wait to put it on Baby L! There is so much that I want to buy from Daffe Design….I would need to win the lotto in order to get everything that I wanted!

Isaac & Rebekah:
I came across this WAHM through a giveaway on Youtube & fall in love with her earrings! I started to buy some and wanted more! She is currently on maternity leave until the middle of summer and so some of the items that I wanted would have to until she returned….needs to hurry up by the way 😉 Her earrings are so simple and clean yet they can be worn with just about any outfit for any occasion. I don’t get dressed up hardly ever but I love the feeling that I get when I put her earrings on! I also need to state that these are the first pair of earrings that I have been able to put on that didn’t make my ear lobes itch like crazy! I have 4 pairs of her earrings and cannot wait to get more! Definitely check her out!

Lara’s Homesewn Goods:
I actually went to high school with this WAHM! When I found out that I was expecting this time around I wanted a nursing cover…I didn’t want to use a blanket because I just didn’t like the way they laid on the baby’s face while they were nursing. So I was looking around her shop & saw that she made nursing covers & fall in love with the pattern that I ended up buying! Now with the nursing cover going through the wash, I wasn’t nervous about stitching….I was nervous that the ring that brings the cover away from the baby’s face would end up bent in some way. I am happy to report that nothing happened to the ring! It is still the same shape & in the same spot that it was in before going through the wash. I love it and cannot wait to put it to use!
Facebook Fan Page

Lucky Girl Design Studio:
This WAHM isn’t a mom to humans bu she doesn’t have the cutest furry children! Her products aren’t something that you can put your hands on! She does web designs! She made my blog banner at the top of the page! I was trying to do it myself and it just wasn’t working for me….I am not talented in this area. And I am happy to announce that she will be adding Baby L once he\she gets here! I would love to have her redesign my whole blog…..but I need to brainstorm more on what I want it to look like and all those lovely details first! If you are wanting to redesign your blog or just get a banner, definitely check out LGDS!

Miss Lily’s Washing Powder:
I absolutely love this washing powder for my diapers! You can also use it for your normal laundry as well, but I use this just for diapers. I have been using this washing powder for well over a year and would highly recommend it to anyone who cloth diapers! I haven’t been using it for about 4 months now only because my youngest is now potty trained & am now waiting for Baby L to get here to use it! I love the smell of the powder….so many yummy scents to choose from! I cannot wait until I run out of the bag that I have so I can purchase a new scent! Even if you love the washing powder you have for your diapers…..just buy one bag & tell me you don’t love it!!!
Facebook Fan Page
(I cannot find my bag of washing powder anywhere!!! But when I do I will include it in another post about WAHMs)

Those are it for now! There are some WAHM products I am waiting to either receive in the mail and\or haven’t ordered from them yet. I want to ony write about the ones that I have used so I can give my honest opinion about their handy work 🙂 So if you are reading this, are a WAHM, and know that I have something coming from you….don’t worry! I will make another post and include you on that one! I want to give fair and honest opinions about things & I just don’t think it would be either of those for me to say something about a product that I haven’t received yet.

I hope that all you readers out there will check out all these WAHMs and share some of your favorites as well!!!

Sorry for being MIA

Hello fans & readers 🙂

I have not been a very good blogger lately and I am sorry. Ever since we have moved to TX things have been crazy & it never seems to stop. Between settling in, finding we are expecting again, two kids in school, husband working all the time, a family member coming to live with us, extra activities with our two oldest…..the list is never ending! I know that a lot of you know how this goes & can relate to me on this.

I have had tons that I have wanted to talk about & post about. I have wanted to share things with you all. I am seriously going to try to get better and get back in the swing of things.

I still have reviews\giveaways to host, along with sending out prizes to the winners from the last giveaway. I know that I am very behind on things and I am sorry for that.

I am so thankful that I have fans & readers that are understanding and willing to work with me and wait on my slow butt 😉

I am still alive and just wanted to update and say that I am sorry for the things that I haven’t done. I in no way expected to slack on the blog at all. I really enjoy writing & hearing you all have to say in response.

Love you all 🙂

Not just for jelly

As we started our move to Texas almost a month ago we made a pit stop in Hickory NC to have some lunch. We didn’t want to stop and go into a restaurant because we were already behind schedule. We just stopped, fixed some PB & Js, and then headed out again.

There was one small problem……we didn’t have a knife.

Pulled into a gas station thinking that my husband would just get a plastic knife. Nope, he cam back with this knife that not only I had never seen but never heard of either! I just kept looking at this knife trying to figure out how this was any more special than a regular knife. I didn’t realize the awesomeness of the knife until I was getting the near the bottom of the jar. This knife is so great for getting the contents out of the jar!

But it’s not just for jelly and peanut butter! No way! This knife could be used for mayo jars, honey jars, bbq jars…..just about any jar that you can think of! Cleans up very easily & dries even quicker! It’s bendy (lack of a better word) so it will definitely take some strength to break this thing. I believe that every person should have this knife! And for the price, there is no reason why you shouldn’t buy one!

Stop by their website & check out all the other products they offer at great prices. You are sure to find something there that you need\want!

Will be hosting a giveaway VERY soon for this jelly knife! Just waiting for the package to get here!

*I bought this product & then contacted the company with how much I really liked their product. All opinions are my own & have no been compensated for said opinions.*

My first….

Bad review ever! I have never planned on writing a bad one, but I cannot keep this one to myself.

We have been staying a many hotels on our move from NC to TX. Some are more luxurious than others, but all have been great! Not one compliant about any of them….until we arrived at the current one we are staying in.

When you first walk into this hotel your first impression is wow, this is a great up scale hotel! I didn’t really notice anything until later on our first day\night here. We spent hours at the hotel the first night & when we were finished swimming and wanted to dry off we went to get a few pool towels….they weren’t any ready. I went to the front desk to ask for some & they said the towels were drying. Ok, not a problem, we can wait alittle bit. A few hours later there were still no pool towels. We didn’t want to wait anymore, so we just went upstairs. My 2 oldest boys were getting ready for the shower & I was getting their pjs and towels ready. Come to find out there were no room towels at all in the room! Called the front desk to have some brought up to us & it took at least 45 minutes to get 2 towels! In the room my husband, me, and our 2 youngest are staying in there were also no room towels or wash clothes. One of the beds didn’t have a bottom skirt on it (2 beds in the room). The next day we went back to the pool so the kids could burn some energy. Went to the bathroom (in the pool area) and noticed that the same trash was sitting there from the night before….they hadn’t cleaned the bathrooms! Fire ants were all on one side (I have a child who is highly allergic to them). Went and told the front desk. About 10 minutes later someone from housekeeping came in, sprayed something, said their maintenance people weren’t here today, and if worst comes to worst just have him wear shoes….really?! Like shoes will keep away fire ants. I went over to the side of the pool to tell my husband something and noticed that it looked like pieces were coming off the pool. My husband dived down and brought up pieces of the bottom of the pool! And there is no fridge or microwave in the rooms.

All in all I am completely disappointed in this hotel! I am going to complain to management about this but will do so at the end of our stay here. In doing this I am not trying to be mean or a high maintain guest….just wanting to make them aware of the conditions of their hotel. Not sure if it will make a difference in the way they run this place or not….but at least I know that I did my part and said something. After I speak with someone & depending on how they handle it…..I will then make the choice to say which hotel & the location. That is something that is still up in the air right now.

The Rattles Band Giveaway #2

I had 2 CDs to giveaway the last time I did a Rattles giveaway and only one person entered, so I decided to throw that in here with all of these other CDs! So I am just copying and pasting from my first review!

“Friends that play together, stay together!” That’s our motto! The band – Gus, Kitty, Hal and Sal – have been friends forever, and are now part of the best indie band around! With our manager, Benny, who drives the tour van (Sweet Pea) along with hundreds of roadies – all named Elvis”

The Rattles Band is a great band for your kids to listen to! With fun and groovy tunes, your kids will be jammin’ out in no time!

My kids love listening to them and it never fails to get them out of their seats and shakin’ their booty! With songs like ‘Lucky Sam’s Banana Stand’, “Wavy Lane’, and ’1-2-3 Count on Me’ – this CD will give your kids something great to listen to without having to worry about the words that they are hearing! And for all your parents out there, it definitely puts some pep in your step!

But the fun doesn’t stop with just the music, oh no, check out their website for more music & videos, pictures, join their fanclub, and so much more! They even have a section for us parents to check out and ways that we can create a love for music in our children!

Check out this video of my youngest son and daughter jammin’ out to some Rattles!

Close My Eyes Review & Giveaway

Voted the 2008 Best of the Bay Singer Songwriter by the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Curt Yagi and his band (The People Standing Behind Me) have been performing throughout the Bay Area at major venues including The Fillmore, Bill Graham civic Auditorium, Union Square Amphitheater and Herbst Theater. Imagine waking up on a Sunday morning, not wanting to get out of bed and craving something for your mind, body and soul. With percussive guitar licks, breathy vocals, rhythmic beats and driving bass lines, Curt’s music will get you started on the right foot and keep you going for the entire day.

Hearing one of Curt Yagi’s original songs from his Close My Eyes (March 2011) album for the first time is like going for a walk in the woods and finding a unicorn. You keep listening to make sure it’s really what it seems to be — a real find.
Too funny! But when I listen to his music, I can picture someone walking into the woods and finding strange and unusal things! I can also see myself listening to this CD on a summers day with the windows rolled down just blairing this CD!

This CD is good background music for younger kids, though they would be dancing to it, but I think that older kids would go for this more. It’s not like baby-kid music. It can be compared to what’s on the radio and the bigger kids would never know that it isn’t…..yet! Some of these songs could be used to putting your younger babies to sleep. Just turn it down alittle and let the whole CD play. You baby will be asleep in no time with these soothing tunes and laid back music.

Curt not only writes and sings, oh no, he has more to offer than his beautiful voice! He has a charity called R.O.C.K (Real Options for City Kids).
Here is alittle bit about it:
ROCK was founded in September 1994 in response to the needs within San Francisco for enhanced public education programs and positive after school activities. Inspired by these needs, ROCK’s founding volunteers researched the problem and developed the idea of combining school based and after school learning enrichment programs with sports and fitness activities to promote healthy child development.

R.O.C.K provides these programs for the kids:

If you are in the San Fransico Area and would like to volunteer, here is how:

How To Volunteer

What a Zoo Review & Giveaway

The songs that Joanie Leeds began turning out reflected this sense that life is a joyful adventure. Entertaining at birthday parties and pre-schools soon progressed into concert performances nationwide and generated material for three full length CDs: City Kid, Challah, Challah, and Joanie’s new release, I’m a Rock Star. Joanie’s now working on her fourth album, a DVD, and a children’s book, while maintaining a busy teaching and performance schedule. Joanie’s fans, large and small, across the country, always want to know more about her.

What A Zoo! is good music to listen to when it’s a rainy day and just want to lounge, definitely gets your foot tapping along to the music! This CD is filled with songs about animals. Each song is about a specific animal and facts about that animal. Joanie puts it to music so that your child will remember these facts! It’s kinda like how your kids remember the words to commercials but can never remember what they have for homework! Once music is put to it, kids remember everything! My kids have enjoyed this CD!

Joanie has been awarded ‘Best kids’ CD of 2010′ by The Washington Post & ‘2010 Parents’ Choice Gold Award’!
