“Pictures for Patriots Contest” — Take Two!

“Pictures for Patriots Contest” — Take Two!.

I love our troops & supporting them! If you have school age kiddos, then definitely see if they would like to join in on this! I know that I am going to see if M & D want to since they love drawing & coloring! Plus, it’s a great teaching moment for them…..gotta let our kiddos know that we have what we have because of these men & women! Thank you for all you do & God bless! And thank you Operation Gratitude for everything that you all have done!

As many of you know, we have a lot of sister sites! Many aren’t active (no one to blog for those sites) and\or life is happening to the ones that are blogging! I completely understand & I am not here to talk about those people and their reasons.

I am here in search of women who are wanting to join our sister sites! There are some topics already in place but we welcome any & all topics! I have changed a few things behind the scenes, so it is more in your hands to design & name the blog! You write for\about it….you should be in charge of it!

Here are the topics that are already in place:
Special Needs

We are always looking to add to these topics & always looking to add topics! We know that there are so many mothers out there that are going through something…..good, bad, ugly, and indifferent! Come to us to talk & share about it. We are a very welcoming group of mothers! If you would like to become apart of the sister sites, please feel free to email me at mommieventures@gmail.com! I look forward to hearing from you very soon!

Red Friday 03\18\11

I was invited to this event on Facebook and wanted to help spread the word. It’s a simple act that means so much. Just wear red this Friday, 03\18\11, to show your support for our troops. Whether or not you agree with the war that is going on is not the point. The point of wearing red & supporting our troops is to show that no matter what our military friends and family are thrown into-we are right there behind them cheering them on! They need\want our love and support and as American citizens you should WANT to support them. Because, after all, if it weren’t for the past, present, and future soldiers (men & women) we would not have the freedoms we have right now. I would not be able to have this blog if it weren’t for them! So, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank ALL of the soldiers out there that have ever fought for our country….I tip my hat to you!

Here is the information that is on the even page for Red Friday. I am just going to copy and paste so I don’t lose any information or type it out wrong. I will also provide the event page for you so you can join in and also their fan page that they have created. I seriously hope that all of you put aside the political part of this and support our fellow Americans who have chosen to risk their lives for our country! Gos bless you all!!! (This includes all family members as well, you are just as much to thank as our soliders)

Will You give this to my Daddy?

As a Company, Southwest Airlines is going to support ‘Red Fridays.’
Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed One of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen.
Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As t…hey began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering.
When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and Cheered for, it hit me. I’m not alone. I’m not the only red-blooded American who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.

Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal.

Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our Service men and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said ‘hi…’

The little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her…

The young soldier, who didn’t look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.

The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter’s name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter Courtney missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up.

When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second… Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it..

After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, ‘I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you.’ He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying ‘your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon.’

The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event.

As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.

We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it’s good to be an American.

RED FRIDAYS —– Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the ‘silent majority’. We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers.

Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday – and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that.. Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV — let’s make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers.

If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is covered in RED.
The first thing a soldier says when asked ‘What can we do to make things better for you?’ is…..We need your support and your prayers.

Let’s get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example.

This is not my story Im just trying to pass it on…… Thank you all for listening, and your support!

Hot Topics – Rules

Ok, so I don’t want to give you a lot of rules because I want each and every one of you to freely express you feel about any topics that might come our way, but I just want to lay down some points that certain things will not accepted no matter what!

Like I said in the Intro post, I will add more as I think of them or if something happens and it needs to be addressed.

*No name calling
*Do not use names outside of this blog (ie: talking to someone about a topic, you cannot use other people’s names that are mentioned in any Hot Topics post)
*No bashing of another person’s feelings/ideas/or stand on a topic
*Everyone has their own opinion and views and you must remember that they are just that, opinions

Hot Topics

I have been trying to think of different ways to diversify the blog and something popped into my head this morning. We should have a Hot Topics section. I would love to hear what sort of topics that you want to talk about and/or hear about. I think that it is possible for us adults to talk about something without name calling and being hurtful towards someone if they don’t agree with your side of the topic.

So if you have a Hot Topic that you want to talk about, can be about anything (And I mean anything), either comment below or email me at mommieventures@gmail.com and put ‘Hot Topic’ in the subject line!

I will also be making a post with rules and will continue to add them as I think of them or if something happens and it needs to addressed.
Don’t be afraid to speak your mind and say your opinion! We do live in America…..Freedom of Speech!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello & good Saturday morning!

I know that I introduced you to a new sister site yesterday (at least I think it was yesterday…), but I have added 2 more since then. Plus I got to thinking that I need to make a post about all of the sites to make sure that all the new fans out there know what other MommieVentures we offer!
So I will make a list right now of their fan page & blog! Be sure to check them out, ‘like’ them, and suggest to your friends! Even if it’s not something you can relate to-it’s always ok to support another mother!

Encouragement Cards Needed

Copy & pasted from misadventures of a mommy:

We found out today that one of our church’s favorite guest pastors is deploying for 6 months. Our pastor is a Chaplain for the US Air Force. Pastor Aaron is a popular guest pastor,  so this is sad for our church.

I’m putting out a call for cards. Encouragement, thinking of you, etc. I need them soon, by January 21. He’s speaking at our church on Jan 23 and we’re having a party for him.

If you can send a card,  please email me ASAP at heathercrownelson {at} gmail {dot} com so I can get an estimate.

Awareness Flowers are off…..

to the Golden Globes! And then next month they are off to the Sundance Film Festival! How cool is that?!

Now you are probably wondering what awareness flowers are and what is the awareness for, right!?
I am going to tell you-duh!

Heather from Brianne’s Basics makes them. They are the simply crocheted flowers but DO NOT underestimate these flowers! They are making HUGE strides. Heather, personally, does not profit from the sales of these flowers. Each Awareness Flower is $3 which in turn goes to buy more yarn. And any money that is profited goes straight to charities!

How awesome is that!? She also makes beanies too!

I saw that in January (next month) that you can buy 3 awareness flowers for $5 plus free shipping! I am going to try and support this and buy some next month! I hope that you will think about buying some and also passing this along to all of your family and friends! It is a great cause and one definitely worth being among the red carpet & the stars!

Congrats Heather! I have a feeling that this is only the beginning of those flowers travels!
