The Family Garden Review & Giveaway

Billy Kelly is a guy with hair and eyeballs and a head and socks and knees and a brand new children’s CD called ‘Thank You for Joining the Happy Club’ and shirts and lungs and a refrigerator and friends and a guitar and his CD is out now!

Billy Kelly got his first guitar when he was 15. He got his first guitar string about 6 months later, and went from there. Within 3 years Billy Kelly had all 6 guitar strings, at which point he began saving up for a guitar strap. To make a long story short, Billy Kelly is now 38 years old and he writes and sings songs for kids, and for kids’ parents; and for kids’ parents’ parents (kids’ grandparents) and for kids’ parents’ parents’ parents’ (kids’ great-grandparents). Billy’s songs are also for former kids (adults) even if they are not parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents. Some animals also seem to like Billy’s songs.

The new disc features 16 glorious tracks, many of them actual songs! (I’m not gonna lie to you: a couple of tracks are just me and The Blahblahblahs goofing around in the studio.) Rest assured: the remainder of the disc is jam-packed with 10 new original songs and two cover songs that we just felt like including. (Rock lobster, anyone?) My pal Molly Ledford, from the super-cool kids music band Lunch Money, joins me in singing We Could Be Pen Pals — a song that we wrote together. My daughter Jane chimes in on bells on I’m Thinking of an Animal (get it: CHIMES in on BELLS???) and my daughter Lilly helps close the album out with a wicked harmonica solo on It’s a Wonderful Life. I even managed to get my dad, Billy Kelly Sr., to contribute some vocals to my song That old American Flag. Thanks Dad! The Blahblahblahs are in fine form throughout and I assure you, they totally bring the rock. Based upon what I know about your tastes in music, which is — admittedly — nothing, I have a feeling you’re really going to enjoy this CD.

Another great CD to listen to whenever and doing whatever! I can’t pinpoint it but I really like this CD! Upbeat and get’s your booty moving!
I love this review from ‘Out With The Kids’: ‘”Imagine if Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld wrote lyrics for all-ages music played by an acoustic Weezer. I cannot recall a funnier, more intelligetly conceived debut family record. Don’t deliberate or discuss with a loved one. Just get it and love it.”
